Printer Offline

Issue:

Your computer says the printer is offline, even though it’s powered on.

Problem Cause:

This issue is often related to:

  • Printer being in “Use Printer Offline” mode
  • Disconnected or changed network (for Wi-Fi printers)
  • Spooler service glitches or outdated drivers

Solutions:

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and:
    • Select “Set as default printer”
    • Uncheck “Use Printer Offline”
  • Restart both your computer and printer.
  • For Wi-Fi printers: reconnect the device to the correct network.
  • Clear the print queue and restart the Print Spooler service:
    • Type services.msc in the Windows search bar
    • Locate Print Spooler, right-click, and choose Restart
  • Update or reinstall printer drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
